Generative Engine Optimization · TechConcepts
50 million people now search via ChatGPT and Perplexity instead of Google. Most businesses are invisible to them. GEO fixes that — in one week, at a fixed price, with no ongoing retainer.
Why this matters now
When someone asks Perplexity "Who builds custom Slack bots in Europe?" or ChatGPT "Best AI consultant for a logistics startup" — who gets cited? Not whoever ranks highest on Google. The sources AI models trust are different: structured data, direct Q&A content, external citations on platforms they've ingested.
Traditional SEO doesn't fix this. A page optimized for keywords can still be completely invisible to AI. GEO is the missing layer — and most businesses haven't added it yet. That's the window.
Right fit
Evgeny Goncharov, TechConcepts — Ex-Yandex Search, Ex-EY Advisory Madrid, Darden MBA. Solo developer and consultant based in Madrid. I run the same GEO techniques on this site — techconcepts.org has llms.txt, all 7 AI crawlers allowed, FAQPage and HowTo schema on every service page, and scores in Perplexity for its target queries. You're reading a live GEO-optimized page.
What's included
Check robots.txt for all seven major AI crawlers: GPTBot (ChatGPT), OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot (Anthropic), PerplexityBot, Google-Extended (Gemini), YouBot (You.com), Applebot-Extended. One misconfigured rule blocks you from an entire platform.
Create a machine-readable site index for AI systems — like sitemap.xml but designed for LLMs. Tells AI what you do, which pages matter, and how to summarize your business accurately. Includes full-content variant (llms-full.txt) for deeper extraction.
Add FAQPage, HowTo, Person, and LocalBusiness schemas where they apply. AI models actively extract structured data. FAQPage schema also triggers rich results in Google — double benefit at no extra cost.
AI answers need direct facts: prices, timelines, locations, specific outcomes. Audit and rewrite key sections so models can answer "what does [your company] do and for how much?" directly from your pages — no inference required.
AI models cite sources they've encountered repeatedly. Audit your presence on GitHub, Hacker News, LinkedIn, dev.to, Crunchbase, and industry publications — the platforms AI was trained on and still crawls. Gaps become a prioritized action list.
Search your exact services in Perplexity and ChatGPT before and after implementation. Documented baseline plus post-delivery visibility check. You see exactly what changed and what to monitor next.

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the practice of making your website visible in AI-generated answers from tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and Claude. Unlike traditional SEO which targets ranking positions, GEO targets being cited as a source in AI responses. Key techniques: allowing AI crawlers in robots.txt, creating an llms.txt file, adding FAQPage and HowTo schema.org markup, writing content with direct factual answers, and building citations on platforms AI models trust.
Most GEO agencies (WebFX, Perrill, Directive) charge $3,000–$6,000 per month on 3–12 month contracts. TechConcepts charges $1,000–$2,000 as a one-time fee. The deliverable is files and a written report you own — not an ongoing dashboard or monthly reports. This model works for SMBs, SaaS startups, and B2B service businesses that need GEO implemented correctly once, without a long-term commitment. Agencies have overheads that require retainers; as a solo operator I don't.
Common blockers: AI crawlers blocked in robots.txt (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot must be explicitly allowed), no llms.txt file, generic content without specific facts or prices, missing FAQPage and HowTo schema markup, and no external citations on platforms AI trusts (GitHub, Hacker News, LinkedIn, industry publications). Most businesses have at least two of these gaps — the audit identifies exactly which ones apply to your site.
Perplexity recrawls frequently — improvements typically show within 2–4 weeks after implementation. ChatGPT with Bing search updates on Bing's index schedule (similar timeframe). Training data updates run on a longer cycle, but real-time search citations — what matters for business queries — update much faster.
Audit only: a written report covering AI bot access, llms.txt status, schema analysis, content review, citation audit, and Perplexity/ChatGPT baseline test, with a prioritized issue list. Audit + implementation: the report plus all files — an llms.txt for your domain, updated robots.txt, JSON-LD schema blocks for each page, and rewritten content sections (up to 5 pages) — delivered as files or applied directly to your codebase. You own 100% of everything.
Any website. The technical changes (llms.txt, schema, robots.txt) are straightforward regardless of CMS or stack. Content rewrites are the bigger lift for non-technical sites, but the process is the same. If you're on WordPress, Squarespace, Webflow, or a custom stack — it all works.
No — they reinforce it. FAQPage schema boosts Google click-through rates. Direct factual content improves topical authority and dwell time. Structured data helps Google understand your pages better. Allowing AI crawlers in robots.txt has no negative effect on Googlebot. GEO and SEO are complementary, not conflicting.
